Week 3: Shades
"There are some qualities—some incorporate things,
That have a double life, which thus is made
A type of that twin entity which springs
From matter and light, evinced in solid and shade."
This week's additions are a trio of crisp Frozen Shades. Though not expensive cards, these represent a deepening of the commitment to mono-black, made in understanding that, as the year wanes on, this is a path from which I may choose to stray, depending on the options that present. For now, though, these are a step toward establishing a creature base the deck can stand upon; an unchecked Shade can quickly overwhelm an opponent's defenses. While weaker in multiples, the ability to replace a fallen minion with a newly summoned threat should not be underestimated.
